Texas EV Education Project Launches “Drive Across Texas” Road Trip with the Chevrolet All-Electric Silverado EV and the Chevrolet Equinox EV

Statements

Texas – Texas EV is hitting the road to prove that Texas-sized adventures are possible in an electric vehicle. The team will take Chevrolet’s all-electric Silverado EV and Equinox EV on a bucket-list style road trip across Texas, showcasing how drivers can travel long distances while charging along the way.

The Equinox EV is America’s most affordable 315+ mile range EV. The Silverado EV with the Max Range Work Truck configuration has an EPA-estimated 493 miles of range, more than any competitor.

The Drive Across Texas Tour kicks off October 21 in Shreveport, Louisiana, with planned stops in Kilgore, Tyler, Fort Worth, Midland, Balmorhea, Fort Davis, El Paso, and more. Along the way, the team will highlight iconic Texas landmarks, enjoy local experiences, and put EV charging networks to the test.

The vehicles are provided by General Motors’ commercial enterprise, GM Envolve, whose customers include government, law enforcement, rental fleets, delivery and logistics, livery services, and utilities.

The tour will underscore the rapid buildout of EV charging infrastructure across Texas, supported by federal investments. With reliable charging stations along highways and in cities, Texans can now consider EVs not only for daily commutes but also for long-distance travel. GM has a collaboration with Pilot and EVgo to develop a coast-to-coast EV fast charging network. So far, the network has reached more than 200 locations across nearly 40 states, including two in Texas on U.S. Route 385 in Odessa and Interstate 20 in Weatherford.
